How to find us?

  • There are 2 airport options when flying to Merida.

    1. Cancun International Airport: The benefits of flying into Cancun is that it is usually a direct flight and more flights go there. It’s also a couple of hundred dollars cheaper than flying into Merida airport.  From the airport, you will need to catch a bus into Merida.  You can either purchase your bus tickets in advance online at busbud.com or at the ADO bus kiosk inside the Cancun airport.  Please note that no refunds are given for missed buses due to flight delays. The buses leave almost hourly so it’s quite easy to catch one and it takes approx. 5 hours to get to the Merida Bus Terminal (be sure not to take the bus to Merida – Altabrisa which is a bit further from our location).  The vehicle themselves are comfortable with roomy seats, AC, and a toilette on board.  From the Merida Bus Terminal, it is only about 15 minutes by Car to The Flying Yogi retreat center.

    2. Merida International Airport: The benefit of flying into Merida International is that it is only 15 minutes from The Flying Yogi retreat center by Car.  Because it is a small airport it is more low-key with less lengthy customs lines etc.  You will however have a short layover in either Miami or Mexico City, which are both very busy airports that involve a lot of walking, crowds, and long security lines.  It also costs more to fly into Merida although it does feel more direct.

Classes Descriptions

AFRO FLOW YOGA
Immerse yourself in soulful rhythms of Afro Flow Yoga as you journey through a transformative fusion of African Dance and Yoga. This practice is set to soul-stirring music to elevate your body, mind and spirit. Experience the art of self-expression and empowerment through a vibrant journey into the heart of West African cultural heritage and transformation.

AYU-YOGA
Ayurveda (a Sanskrit word that means “science of life” or “knowledge of life”) is one of the world’s oldest whole-body healing systems. It was developed more than 5,000 years ago in India and is based on the belief that health and wellness depend on a delicate balance between the mind, body, spirit, and environment. Combined with vinyasa-yoga, Ayu-Yoga classes are a beautiful mix between the two sister sciences that helps to bring balance to the mind, body and spirit.

SOUND HEALING
Sound Healing is a transformative therapy that uses healing sounds, music, and specialized instruments to enhance well-being on multiple levels. In this retreat, participants will experience the gentle and loving awakening of their body, mind, soul, and spirit through the power of sound, creating a harmonious and deeply rejuvenating journey.

SUSPENSION YOGA
Suspension yoga is a therapeutic hybrid form of aerial yoga that incorporates the use handles along with a hammock to allow for maximum mobility, support and accessibility. It is a playful workout suitable for any age or fitness level.

Beatrix Montanile, creator and world authority on Suspension Yoga™, designer of the YogiGym® Suspension System and author of the leading instructional book on aerial yoga, The Suspension Yoga™ Handbook, founded the internationally renowned yoga studio, The Flying Yogi in Toronto in 2011 to offer classes and teacher training on the Suspension Yoga Method™

During the COVID shut-downs, she refocused her energies to launch The Flying Yogi Training Academy, so that teachers around the world could become certified as Suspension Yoga™ instructors and, The Flying Yogi OnDemand Tv , a subscription based platform offering online classical yoga, meditations and Suspension Yoga classes that could be studied at home.

Once COVID restrictions eased, Beatrix was ready for a change. With her vast experience as a yoga retreat facilitator (Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, India, Croatia, Peru, Equador, Colombia) and a fondness for Latino culture, she decided to shift operations to Mexico where she now organizes fun and culturally informative Yoga Retreats and Suspension Yoga Teacher Training at her new base, The Flying Yogi Villa in Mérida.
