The Deer Garden Inn
A Brief History:
The Deer Garden Inn is the new home to The Flying Yogi’s Suspension Yoga retreats and teacher training.
Situated in the peaceful resort town of situated in the peaceful resort town of St. Andrews-by-the-Sea in New Brunswick on 1.5 acres of land, this majestic house was first built in the mid 1800s as part of a larger farm estate. In the 1980’s, the land was purchased by an Englishman who converted the the property into an Inn and gave it the name Deer Garden because of the lush green surroundings and well…there are lots of deer!
As an old maritime town, St Andrews has many ghost stories to tell and even Deer Garden Inn is reputed by locals to be haunted. Those who have seen this apparition all describe the same thing…a man dressed in a fisherman’s mac and wearing a broad smile. This indicates to us that, thankfully, our ghost happens to be a friendly one.
St. Andrews-by-the-Sea:
St. Andrews-by-the-Sea is a dynamic community; a centre of education and science; a leading year-round destination; and a vibrant home for arts and culture. Founded in 1783, Saint Andrews-by-the-Sea is the first and oldest seaside resort and, home to the largest collection of authenticated heritage buildings in the country dating back to the 18th century. Known as a National Historic Site of Canada, the Town is on the southern tip of a peninsula, extending into the Passamaquoddy Bay which feeds into the Bay of Fundy. Afternoons are reserved for fun and adventures such as exploring Mayan archeological sites, swimming in clear freshwater underground caves known as “cenotes”, marveling at pink flamingos in flight or bicycling around the city, shopping at local markets, strolling through museums, and much more.

Mérida is renowned for its fabulous food and our evenings will be spent exploring some of the exquisite cuisines available in Mérida’s finest landmark restaurants.
During your stay, time will also be set aside for a deeply relaxing ayurvedic massage with Johannan, our resident massage therapist.

What others say about our retreats…
No pressure, No Stress. No hard and fast schedules. Roll with it and enjoy the retreat. It was like spending a week with close friends whose company you really enjoy.
Trixie and John went above and beyond to make sure our visit to The Flying Yogi Merida retreat centre was a happy one.
The meals were well thought out and healthy, and the yoga was top notch. Every excursion was interesting and informed us about the history and sights of the area.
The Flying Yogi or the Azores?
We’ll probably visit the Azores some day but this time around we certainly made the right decision choosing to spend a week at the Flying Yogi. I highly recommend it!
This was definitely one of the best vacations in my entire life.
A variety of yoga, not only suspension yoga. Best teacher ever. Healthy and delicious breakfasts and lunches. Accommodation spotless and comfortable. Amazing outings. Whole thing did me the world of good.
Trixie and John rose above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of.
Everything, was truly amazing. Truly speechless.
For a retreat that just currently open, it was amazing. Wow !
Beautiful memories made from this retreat.
The retreat setting and accommodation was very unique. Loved the tranquillity there. I really enjoyed the Suspension Yoga sessions and it was great having ‘local’ tour guides to take us to off-the-beaten-paths to enjoy the authenticity of this beautiful part of Mexico.
The atmosphere that Trixie and John created was very welcoming, warm and relaxed.
